Nargis Nehan was on Saturday officially introduced as acting minister for mines and petroleum and will soon be introduced to MPs for a vote of confidence.
Nehan was introduced as the acting minister by Second Vice President Sarwar Danish at a press conference on Saturday.
"Soon she will be introduced to the house of representatives to get a vote of confidence," Danish said.
President Ashraf Ghani recently signed a decree nominating her to the position.
In the decree, Ghani directed the office of the state minister for parliamentary affairs to arrange for a vote of confidence in the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of Parliament).
There has been frequent criticism about the fragility of the ministry of mines in the past.
The former minister of mines Daud Shah Sabah resigned last year in March.
